The renovation and expansion of the Memmo Baleeira Hotel in Sagres, started from the need to give the building from the 1950s, a formal, spatial and functional quality that it had not withstood over the years. The idea of the project starts from the pre-existence and the place. 

The intention was to combine each of the parties, existing and new, to give the building a greater formal unity, clarity in its circulations, both horizontal and vertical, and to functionally re-order the program according to the new needs. 

The choice of simple materials and a certain chromatic unity, suited to the site and the characteristics of the location, seeking to introduce the least possible noise in relation to the natural landscape. Each of the spaces and the 144 rooms are turned, most of them, towards the sea, framing the views over the Atlantic and Porto da Baleeira, which they take over.
The project includes the interior design as well as the design of the exterior arrangements that was carried out by Proap.
