Lofts in Torres Vedras
Residentials
Torres Vedras, PT - 2005
700 m2
Completed
The building is located in the historic center of Torres Vedras, in a consolidated urban network, but in which the surrounding building is relatively recent and, in general, of low architectural quality. At the corner of the lot there was a small building for residential use with two floors and the remaining area was occupied by an industrial warehouse, dating both buildings from the early - 20th century. As additional conditions, there was still, to be maintained, a transformation post and an easement to the interior of the block.
The lack of relevant quality of the existing buildings, as well as the inadequacy of the housing program, justified its demolition. The proposed volumetry respects the alignment of the existing façades and the municipal rules for maximum height of new buildings, rules which resulted in the volumetry of two floors and attic, the latter made possible by the option of using an sloping roof.
The design of the facades reinforces the reading of two floors, with the adoption of different materials. The ground floor is covered with resin plates, which makes it possible to standardize the entrance doors and parking gates. The upper floor is white plastered. The housing program consists of single-family houses.
