In Progress
The project involves the rehabilitation of a building, of industrial typology with a large space and high ceilings, which was originally designed to be a carpentry workshop, and in 1930 it was used as a car garage, a function that remains from that date until today.
Through this project, it is intended to intervene in the building, converting its use to housing, with the inclusion of two sigle-houses, with typologies T6 and T4, very similar to each other, and which develop on three floors above ground and a floor below ground, intended for common use parking. The building currently occupies the entire lot, however, in the proposal is intended to recover a space of late at night, which will create a private green outdoor space. Given the depth of the houses, a courtyard has been created inside the building that will allow light and natural ventilation to be added to the interior spaces, but also unique living spaces always in relation to the exterior.
It is intended to conserve the architectural language of the building, and in this sense, the proposal consists of the physical recovery of the building, taking into account a prolonged functional obsolescence of several decades, respecting its authenticity, through the recovery of its main façade, with the replacement of its original tiles, produced at the Bordallo Pinheiro Ceramic Factory, in Caldas da Rainha, and the interior of the building, will be totally new, but equipped with conditions of comfort and safety according to the criteria currently required.
