In Progress
This is the rehabilitation of a small building, located at Pombaline downtown of the city of Lisbon, which was in a reasonable state of conservation. It was possible to adapt the program to the original plan shape, with only a very few changes, and to maintain the existing structure, reinforcing it in order to guarantee its resistance and competence to the earthquake. The program consists of small dwellings for local accommodation, which was perfectly adapted to the spatial characteristics of the building. This allowed not only to preserve the majority of existing interior compartments, but also to preserve other elements of the integrated heritage. An elevator was placed in the lobby, minimizing its impact on the existing structure. All the subdivisions of the spaces, introduced in the last century in an abusive, poor quality and uncharacteristic way, were eliminated. All spurious elements with no patrimonial interest were removed, both inside and outside. The tiles in presence were recovered and kept, in general, in their original locations.
