Rua do Ferragial
Residentials
Lisbon, PT - 2015
1270 m2
Completed
The building in question has its access made by two streets at different levels, the main access being through Rua do Corpo Santo and the secondary through Rua do Ferragial, which is at a height of 7 meters. This difference originates two semi-buried floors, below the ground of Rua do Corpo Santo.
The project is characterized by the rehabilitation of the building with an increase in the existing volume. Its rehabilitation aimed to improve its functionality and habitability conditions, simplifying the existing interior geometry, allowing a greater balance, coherence and rationality in the organization of spaces. To do this, some walls were demolished that formed internal compartments, in order to obtain larger areas of stay and to eliminate from unventilated interior spaces that once existed.
In floor 0, with access by the Rua do Corpo Santo, the commercial spaces are located and in the remaining 5 floors the 12 houses are distributed, with typologies between T0 and T1. With the exception of the houses located on the 5th floor, which have the particularity of benefiting from privileged views and presenting the typology in duplex - the remaining fires maintain an organizational coherence.
In the treatment of both facades there was a concern to maintain the coherence of the existing architectural language, recovering the original colors as well as all elements that reflect the pombaline characteristics of this building, but also the replacement of windows in wood identical to the original, cleaning of masonry in stone and metal guards.
