Housing in Rua Conde das Antas
Residentials
Lisbon, PT - 2007
550 m2
Completed
Honorable Mention in "Prémio Valmor e Municipal de Arquitetura de Lisboa" - 2010-12
The project is characterized by being a housing building of two detached houses that, practically develop in a symmetrical way, dividing the lot front between both. The differences between the two houses arises from the need for the volume built in the rear to resolve the transition between confining buildings, which have different depths. The smaller area of construction of one of the dwellings is somehow compensated with a greater use of space of the garden, also divided between them.
Each house has an independent access across the street, and the plot features a parking lot common to both fractions. The two houses are developed on 3 floors and attic. On floor 0, there are access to the dwellings and parking. In floor 1, the living area is developed, as well as the eating area and the kitchen. This floor is characterized by the unevenness that exists between the various spaces that creates a subtle demarcation of the space assigned to each function. This difference in height generates a more generous foot in the living area, increasing the size of the window that opens to the outside, allowing a more open relationship with the interior of the lot.
These differences also result from the need to bring the seating area closer to the natural terrain at the rear, preventing it from being buried. On Level 2 there are two bedrooms, and on the attic floor, another bedroom faces the back.
